You can't say drives innovation any more. When your goal is to show profit to your shareholders, you can't take risks. Look at Hollywood as it tries desperately to fit things into a formula and produce remakes with built-in fandom, rather than release anything new.

Recent syslinux update said I have to go in manually and make changes to EFI. The last thing I want to do is screw up boot. Excuse me while I never turn my laptop off again in fear. Ugh.

Seriously, no idea why I'm so stressed about this. Maybe it is because our data is so important and I don't want to mess up my daily driver computer? Then why do we trust big companies with our data?

Anyway, send money so I can just buy a new laptop? I really don't want to dick with boot partitions.

Question, boosts appreciated. Has anyone on the Fediverse set up a rainwater harvesting system for things like laundry, flushing toilets and so on? How much did it cost? What are your thoughts on the process, and was there anything you'd do differently?

I feel like a judgemental prick and want to meditate for thinking this as I wait for my partner's car, but there's a certain type of vanity present in people working at car dealerships.

So gifs on :pixelfed: don't seem to show up on ? There's a clickable link instead of a preview. Images work just fine. Not complaining, just didn't know that. @Tusky shoes a blank box, instead of a link.

If I was to share this thought on bookface or birbsite, it would no longer be mine. This status update and thought ™ would be the property of the service.

That's messed up.

Thanks to @Gargron for Masto, @cwebber for , the makers of @Tusky, and @mastohost for allowing me to keep my own thoughts.

The fediverse is Mastodon, Pleroma, Diaspora, Friendica, Hubzilla, Osada and all their friends, federating. But what do we call all the silos, the ad-based family of Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and friends? How about Adverse? It's true: a universe founded on ad serving. And a reminder that the offer plenty of adversity.

If you are a musician or sound artist and you urgently need 'native' support for audio uploads on mastodon, you can (and please do!) vote (thumbs up) or ideally write a short comment on the issue on github: "Allow users to post audio files #4827"

It looks like support is almost there but still not really implemented. Votes for this can raise the priority of this much needed feature.

Updates.

Are they a result of shipping unfinished product?

Updates have also been spun by marketing to keep people interested. This is where we get bloat. I once had a CD burning software that eventually integrated photo manipulation and chat.

We need security updates since EVERYTHING has to connect to the web, but do we need updates?

Can something just be.

Can we as humans, just be?

Maybe updates are a view into how we treat ourselves. We're never enough.

We will be migrating avatars and will be bringing the service offline for a few minutes.

So @sean is putting me to the test as the best show notes maker in the world. I'm only 3:09 into the episode and I have amassed 14 links so far.

Podcast show notes time.
Meanwhile, the spouse is playing Just Dance with the Konnect. How am I supposed to concentrate?

We often forget that is the fourth horseman of the apocalypse, along with Googs, FB, and Amazon.

Thanks for not working in Firefox.
