You can't say #capitalism drives innovation any more. When your goal is to show profit to your shareholders, you can't take risks. Look at Hollywood as it tries desperately to fit things into a formula and produce remakes with built-in fandom, rather than release anything new.
Recent syslinux update said I have to go in manually and make changes to EFI. The last thing I want to do is screw up boot. Excuse me while I never turn my laptop off again in fear. Ugh.
Seriously, no idea why I'm so stressed about this. Maybe it is because our data is so important and I don't want to mess up my daily driver computer? Then why do we trust big companies with our data?
Anyway, send money so I can just buy a new laptop? I really don't want to dick with boot partitions.

The value I place on myself is displayed in a recent, negative toot about car dealerships. I judge who I am by how I *think* others perceive me. I don't make a lot of money. I'm overweight. I'm not working much.
My identity is my financial value, my hustle, my work.
This has to change. I need to stop hating myself, but I've been doing it for 40+ years.
If I was to share this thought on bookface or birbsite, it would no longer be mine. This status update and thought ™ would be the property of the service.
That's messed up.
'm doing #36DaysOfType and like much of my art, I'm exploring my emotions and #MentalHealth. This is what I wrote about #Hustle for the letter H-- https://savethis.space/2019/afraid-of-what-we-find

The fediverse is Mastodon, Pleroma, Diaspora, Friendica, Hubzilla, Osada and all their friends, federating. But what do we call all the silos, the ad-based family of Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and friends? How about Adverse? It's true: a universe founded on ad serving. And a reminder that the offer plenty of adversity.
If you are a musician or sound artist and you urgently need 'native' support for audio uploads on mastodon, you can (and please do!) vote (thumbs up) or ideally write a short comment on the issue on github: "Allow users to post audio files #4827"
It looks like support is almost there but still not really implemented. Votes for this can raise the priority of this much needed feature.
Are they a result of shipping unfinished product?
Updates have also been spun by marketing to keep people interested. This is where we get bloat. I once had a CD burning software that eventually integrated photo manipulation and chat.
We need security updates since EVERYTHING has to connect to the web, but do we need updates?
Can something just be.
Can we as humans, just be?
Maybe updates are a view into how we treat ourselves. We're never enough.
We often forget that #Ticketmaster is the fourth horseman of the apocalypse, along with Googs, FB, and Amazon.
Thanks for not working in Firefox.
Writer, video editor, motion graphics occasionally pay me. Creating art and having conversations fuel me.
